The 90th Anniversary Fundraising  Lecture at the Sidbury Manor by kind permission of  Sir John and Lady Cave took place on the 31st March 2011.

The afternoon started with an optional walk around the gardens, followed by a short talk by the County Chairman, Ralph Howard-Williams, referring to the support the Royal British Legion give to the Serving and Ex Service personnel  needing help in numerous ways since its inception to the present day.

Our Branch will continue to strive to help The Royal British Legion move forward to remain one of the top ten Charities for the future.

The main presentation of the afternoon was the excellent and informative Lecture entitled “The Men Behind the Medals”.

It was given by Air Commodore Graham Pitchfork MBE , and was enjoyed by all those present who were able to relate to the references whether personally or by family members and acquaintances, including those who had lost relatives during these times.  The Lecture will be a talking point for some time to come.

Air Commodore Pitchfork was then presented with the medals awarded to the late Group Captain Dennis Lyster DSO, DFC,AFC who was a member of the Branch, by his widow Paula. These will be housed in the Yorkshire Air Museum for future generations to appreciate.

Sir John Cave thanked the Air Commodore, and the afternoon concluded with a glass of wine and canapés.

This event raised in excess of £1,500 for the RBL 90th Anniversary Fund.
